Emmanuel, 32 years old, lives in Luxemburg and doesn’t go unnoticed. In addition to being of above average size, he is undoubtedly the most tattooed man in the country. He told me his story...
At the age of sixteen, without being influenced by anyone, because he knew no tattooed people at that time and it was far from fashionable back in these days, he felt the great need of getting his first tattoo. He found his design in a tattoo magazine (a devil holding a bible in his hands) and it was the beginning of a long story... Since then, the years passed and the young man is practically covered in ink.
"I still have to finish my buttocks and then do my thighs and after that, I'm done."
It's only a matter of weeks before Emmanuel has no more free space on his body. Since a long time, his goal was to be completely tattooed from head to foot. Therefore, getting his head and face tattooed was quite a logical consequence in this process for him. True to his first tattoo, he stayed in the religious and ambiguous themes of life and death, respectively of the concept of good and evil in the development of his tattoos, on which three different artists have laid hand on.
"These are important issues for me, I’ve had a Christian education and I’m a religious person." If it’s sure that being in his skin cannot be easy every day, while he can’t leave home without being noticed, he comes to specify "although people often think that I did this, only to stand out, it’s far from my will. The decision I madewas only for myself, because that's what I wanted to look like. The rest is a consequence of it. I don’t regret any tattoo, they are all part of one particular phase in my life. I am sure I never come to regret those choices. "

Emmanuel, 32 ans, vit au Luxembourg et ne passe pas inaperçu. En plus d’être de taille supérieure à la moyenne, il est sans aucun doute l’homme le plus tatoué du pays. Il m’a raconté son histoire...
A l’âge de seize ans, sans avoir été influencé par qui que ce soit, car il ne connaissait personne de tatoué à ce moment et c’était loin d’être à la mode à ces jours, il ressentit le grand besoin de se faire piquer. Il a trouvé son motif dans un magazine tattoos (un diable qui tenait une bible dans ses mains) et ce fût le début d’une longue histoire... Depuis, les années ont passées et le jeune homme est pratiquement recouvert d’encre.
“Il me reste à finir mon fessier et ensuite, faire mes cuisses, après j’aurais fini.”
Il s’agît donc d’une question de semaines avant qu’Emmanuel n’ait plus aucun espace libre sur son corps. Son but était depuis longtemps, d’être complètement tatoué de la tête au pieds. Le crâne et le visage étaient donc une conséquence tout à fait logique dans cette démarche pour lui. Fidèle à son premier tattoo, il est resté dans les thèmes religieux et ambigus de la vie et de la mort, respectivement du concept du bien et du mal dans l’élaboration de ses tattoos, auxquels ont mis main en tout 3 artistes différents.
“Ce sont des thèmes importants pour moi, j’ai eu une éducation chrétienne et je suis une personne croyante.”
S’il est certain qu’être dans sa peau ne doit pas être facile tous les jours, s’il ne peut pas sortir de chez soi sans se faire remarquer, il vient à préciser “même si les gens pensent souvent que cette démarche a surtout été faite pour me faire remarquer, loin de là ma volonté. Cette décision, je ne l’ai faite rien que pour moi, parce que c’est cela à quoi je voulais ressembler. Le reste n’en est qu’une conséquence. Je ne regrette aucun tatouage, ils font tous partie d’une étape précise de ma vie. Je suis sûr de ne jamais venir à regretter ces choix.”
